Langhuan is a single-binary MCP knowledge base and RAG retrieval service. Download the archive for your platform, unzip it, and run — no Docker, PostgreSQL, or Redis required. On first start it auto-provisions a SQLite database, keys, and config under ~/.langhuan-data/.
For production concurrency, use the PostgreSQL + Redis deployment (see README).
1Download & unzip
Download the archive for your platform and unzip it
2Remove quarantine (macOS only)
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine langhuan
3Run
./langhuan, then open http://127.0.0.1:8080
macOS flags unsigned, unnotarized downloads with a Gatekeeper quarantine marker. Running the binary directly may show "cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified" or "Apple cannot check it for malicious software." Remove the quarantine attribute after unzipping, then run. On Apple Silicon (M-series) pick the darwin-arm64 build; on Intel pick darwin-amd64.
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine langhuan
You can verify with file langhuan or ./langhuan --help. If anything is wrong, report it in the repository Issues.
Which package should I download?
On macOS Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) pick darwin-arm64; on macOS Intel pick darwin-amd64; on Linux pick amd64 or arm64 to match your CPU; on Windows x64 pick windows-amd64 (.zip).
macOS says "the developer cannot be verified" — what now?
That is Gatekeeper flagging an unsigned download. After unzipping, run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine langhuan to clear the quarantine marker, then run ./langhuan.
Do I need Docker, PostgreSQL, or Redis?
Not in standalone mode. Langhuan is a single binary: SQLite + sqlite-vec + gse Chinese tokenization, auto-provisioning its database and keys on first start. Use the PostgreSQL + Redis deployment only for production concurrency.
How do I upgrade?
Download the latest release binary and replace the old one; your data under ~/.langhuan-data/ is preserved. Back up the database first, per the backup docs.
